Springbrook

Today we spend the arvo at Springbrook, part of the hinterland behind the Gold Coast.
It's only about 40 minutes away from where we are staying and it's a lovely retreat from the heat of the Gold Coast. The words "I'm actually cold!" came out of my mouth today, unheard of from me in this northern state :)

Springbrook has a number of lookouts and parks to wander around in and some decent walks I think we'll tackle with a bit more preparation. There is also a little shop that sells fudge...mmmmmm, I had Turkish Delight flavour..mmmm!, so we'll just Have to go back to make sure we taste test every flavour :)

a view of the Gold Coast from a lookout up at Springbrook (can't remember the lookout's name). The white large building on the right hand bottom corner is Skilled Stadium in Robina. We live about 10 mins from there.

  Purlbrook Falls

a nice selfy Dave!

just another lovely view

So, that was our afternoon :) Start of my 3rd week at work tomorrow and Dave's first day. What shall we do next weekend?

We're on the Gold Coast for the next 3 months

That's right, we are here until at least the start of July because we have found jobs!!!!

We got to Aunty Jane's house just before Easter and thought we'd have a quick look for work, a little squiz if you will, and resume's were sent.

Well, interviews have been had and now I'm working as a Claims Officer in Brisbane and Dave's doing telemarketing (the natural salesman strikes again!!). We will have 3 months of weekends to see the Gold Coast and surrounds in full :) and we will be able to get a few extra things done to our Silver Chariot.

So, we have put our home on wheels in storage for the 3 months, as Jane has kindly allowed us to live with her, and it was a bit sad to see it go. I'm commuting on the train to Brisbane and Dave is working in Surfers Paradise. The view from the floor I work on is amazing :

How's the view?
Brisbane River and a ferris wheelie thing on South Bank

bridges over the Brisbane River

A bit hard getting back into it after 6 weeks of travelling but looking forward to exploring. It has also been really great to spend lots of time with family we haven't seen for years (and the fishing is good up here :)

Mt. Tamborine

Thursday 28th March, Dave and I drove up to Mount Tamborine - what a stunning place.

As we were driving up we noticed the sign "Botanic Gardens" so, quick detour and into a lush and fabulous place we went. Got my dose of greenery to last a while :)

David Austin Rose
me next to the David Austin Rose (luckily Dave didn't get a photo of me snorting out the perfume - a bit intense) in the rainforest walk.

2 other views of the Gardens

We walked along the main drag where all the shops/restaurants are and then we got some lunch and went to one of the very many parks around the place.

what views hey?

We have spent the Easter Break with Dave's family with various lunches, drinks, lunches and more drinks - my poor hungover body :) It has been great and a very relaxed atmosphere up here (well, you can't really run around like a blue arsed fly in the heat :) - can you tell we're Victorians?!
